How to Lead It
Participants stand or sit in a circle. One person begins by pointing at someone, either beside them or across the circle, and saying "Zip." That person now holds the energy and passes it on, pointing at anyone in the circle and saying "Zap." The third person receives it and passes it along with "Zop." The sequence then repeats from "Zip," and play continues until the leader calls an end.
It works well at the start of a workshop as a warm-up, and as a low-barrier game for all-ages, program-for-all settings.
Variations
For a higher-energy version, players clap their hands together toward the next person instead of pointing.
Leading Tips
Demonstrate the full Zip, Zap, Zop cycle yourself before starting. Emphasize making eye contact with the person you pass the energy to, since that is what keeps the pass clear and keeps everyone tracking who has it. Model high energy so the group matches it.
