How to Lead It
Performers start a scene, with or without a prompt. Now and then, right after a performer makes a choice in the scene, the leader calls "New Choice!" The performer immediately makes a different choice in its place and the scene continues.
For example, "I'm going golfing with my uncle next weekend" might become "I'm going skydiving with my uncle next weekend," and if the leader calls "New Choice!" again, "We're going to the moon with my uncle right now!" Each choice should be bolder or bigger than the last.
The scene runs to its natural conclusion, with the leader interjecting from time to time.
Adapting for Group Size
Two to four performers at a time. Others watch.
Leading Tips
Be careful how often you call "New Choice!" Let the scene keep its momentum and make progress. Only stack a double "New Choice!" a couple of times per scene.
Origin: Improv folk tradition
